When we think of sleep, we imagine cozy beds and drifting off, but what about trout? While they don’t sleep like we do, trout still need to rest. Research shows that trout reduce their activity and slow down their metabolism when they need to recover, all while staying alert for predators and other dangers.

Instead of curling up in a cozy spot, trout have unique resting habits. Some will float almost motionless in calm water, while others might find a safe spot near rocks or undercut banks where they can rest without being swept away by the current.
