How to tie the Blood Knot: Essential Fly Fishing Knots

Step-by-Step Guide:

Step 1:

Start by overlapping the ends of the two lines you want to join

The blood knot works well with lines of similar or different diameters, making it versatile for various fishing setups.

Step 2:

Hold them parallel to each other, ensuring a clean and even connection.

Take the left tag end and wrap it over and around the line on the right

Step 3:

Take one end of the first line and wrap it around the second line five to seven times.

The number of wraps can vary depending on the diameter and type of lines you're using.

Step 4:

After finishing the wraps bring the tag end forward to the intersection

Pinching wraps with right fingers helps to keep things together

Step 5.

Insert the tag into the loop that has formed at the intersection of the two lines.

Again moving fingers into place after the tag is inserted and pinching will keep you organized

Step 6.

Repeat the process with the tag end of the line on the right.

You should now have two lines inserted into the loop from opposite directions.
